Vote in HASSRA Committee at AGM

  • The committee for the ensuing year should be elected from the ordinary members of the club at the Annual General Meeting.
  • All office clubs must have three officers - Chair, Treasurer and Secretary - who are full HASSRA members currently employed by DWP or other sponsor departments. Retired members, Associate members, or members who work for a departmental contractor can be part of the committee, but they cannot be an officer of the club.
  •  All single activity clubs must have three officers - Chair, Treasurer and Secretary - who are full HASSRA members currently employed by DWP or other sponsor departments, or may be retired members, or members who work for a departmental contractor. Associate members can be part of the committee, but they cannot be an officer of the club.

The Chair shall:

  • Undertake a vote to elect a President and Vice-President(s), (this is optional according to local conditions). These will need to be proposed and seconded and voted in. Ensure the minute taker records the result of the votes in the minutes.
  • Undertake a vote to elect the Officers of the Committee, including a Chairperson, a Secretary, and a Treasurer. These will need to be proposed and seconded and voted in. Ensure the minute taker records the result of the votes in the minutes.
  • Undertake a vote to elect up to 15 other committee members (this can include deputies for the Officers positions). These will need to be proposed and seconded and voted in. Ensure the minute taker records the result of the votes in the minutes.

Voting Rules

  • Every member present at the AGM shall have one vote, and in the event of an equality of votes, the Chair or presiding officer shall have an additional or casting vote.
